During the main season (from May to September), tours of the Postojna Cave take place every hour, whereas outside of the main season, there are three to four tours daily (a detailed tour timetable).
Each tours lasts approximately an hour and a half. The length of the entire section that has been set up as a show cave is 5 km, whereof 3.2 km are seen during a ride with an electric cave train and 1.8 km on foot. The temperature inside the cave is between 8 and 10°C; suitable clothing and footwear are recommended.
Every tour is guided in Slovene, English, German and Italian. Visitors can now also be provided with audio guides - handy portable audio players. Visitors to Vivarium Proteus and the Predjama Castle receive a printed guide book.
Wheelchair ramps, support handles and specially fitted train carriages make it possible for tours to be attended by people in possession of folding prams and wheelchairs. The staff will be more than happy to provide assistance to people on wheelchairs, however due to a large number of visitors we are not always able to provide physical assistance with wheelchair lifting or pushing if needed; it is therefore recommended for people on wheelchairs to attend the cave tour with a person accompanying them, who will be admitted free of charge.

All visitors to the Postojna Cave will be left with fond memories of their visit. We should do our best to preserve it for the future generations and therefore respect the cave etiquette. CAVE ETIQUETTE: 1. For the sake of their own safety and protection of the environment, visitors must obey instructions of the staff at all times. 2. During the train ride, visitors are not allowed to stand up, lean out and jump on or off the train. 3. Visitors are not allowed to walk outside off the marked paths. They must stay in the group and with their guide. 4. Visitors must not touch the stalagmites/stalactites.5. Visitors must not throw away any kind of litter. 6. Visitors are strictly forbidden from taking photographs. 7. Smoking inside the cave is strictly forbidden. 8. Visitors are not allowed to bring food into the cave.
