A New Brood of Baby Olms in 2022
In the largest Slovenian tourist attraction, Postojna Cave – nicknamed "the world's most famous dragon nest" by the global media following a story that attracted a lot of media attention in 2016 – one of the female olms laid new eggs this summer. Their development has been very successful and we are expecting the last two baby olms to hatch in the coming days! We are about to witness an unprecedented reproductive success rate in the world of olms!

We are thrilled to announce that the restaurant at Vila Planinka, the 5* boutique hotel in Jezersko, has been awarded the 2021 Michelin Plate. The hotel’s philosophy, which has guided us since the start, and a breath of fresh air brought into our kitchen by Chef Blaž Derlink have once again proven that we are headed in the right direction.

After the longest temporary closure in Postojna Cave’s entire history, which lasted no fewer than 231 days, we are very pleased to share some good news: the queen of the subterranean world and most of the Postojna Cave Park attractions are reopening. After Slovenia was the first country in the EU to declare an end to the COVID-19 epidemic, we reopened Postojna Cave. And earlier today, June 11th,we revealed to the public for the first time our most carefully guarded cave inhabitants. Four years after they hatched and caused quite a furore, we are proud to present three of the twenty-one baby olms (Proteus anguinus), the world-famous ‘dragon's offspring’, which we have all – and the media all over the world too – kept a close eye on since 2016. They have become veritable ‘celebrities’ and now it's time for the public to meet them as well.

About a year after Vila Planinka boutique hotel opened in Jezersko, its restaurant opened the doors to outside guests as well. The guests of honour at the grand opening ceremony, accompanied by a five-star dinner, were British dance show Strictly Come Dancing stars Aljaž Škorjanec and Janette Manrara. The couple fell in love with the philosophy of Vila Planinka during their very first visit in April last year and have become our regular guests.
